In Ridgewood, there are countless restaurants and cafes scattered around town, but have you heard of the new rave around town; Cookies! There are so many places to get cookies , but which one is actually the best? Our taste buds are going to be the judges in the world of sweet, savory, and unexpected flavor combinations. Each bite is a new journey, a blend of different textures and tastes that could crown a new queen of the cookie world or uncover the comforting warmth of a classic recipe perfected.
The BF bolt went to downtown Ridgewood to check out the 3 most popular cookie places: Cookie Connect, Chip City, and Treat Me Sweet. We put the three companies head to head to decide who had the best cookies.
We chose to review 3 different cookie flavors; Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Chip, and S’mores. We rated the cookies on price and presentation. First we tried the smores cookies and we came to a group decision that Treat Me Sweet had the best s’mores cookies. The Treat Me Sweet s’mores cookie was gooey and tasted just like a s’mores. They were very delicious, including the graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate bar making it taste like it just came off the fire.
The cookies and cream cookies were next. As a group we decided that Cookie Connect had the best cookies and cream cookie. This cookie had chocolate drizzle across the surface with bits of cookie scattered around. Each cookie broke apart nicely, it was nice and flavorful and overall better than Chip City, and the Treat Me Sweet cookie.
The chocolate chip cookies at Cookie Connect had the best cookie yet again. The chocolate chip cookie was taken far and beyond, with the correct amount of salt and sugar perfectly balanced to make a delicious chocolate chip cookie. This cookie was nice and gooey leaving a delightful taste in your mouth. Overall Cookie Connect had the best cookies and it definitely the next place you should go to get your cookies.
Let’s talk about the pricing. Cookie prices range from about 4-5 dollars per cookie. The cookies from Chip City came out to $6 per cookie including tax. At Cookie Connect, the price per cookie came out to $5 including tax and finally at Treat Me Sweet, it came out to $4.50 per cookie including tax. When calculating the total of the 3 cookies, Chip City came out to a total of $18. Cookie Connect came out to a total of $15 and finally, Treat Me Sweet came out to a total of $13.50. Overall, Chip City’s cookies were the most expensive and the Treat Me Sweet cookies were the least expensive.
We took a poll of students in Benjamin Franklin Middle School and these were the results: 49% have been to and liked Chip City. 37% have been to and liked Cookie Connect and finally 14% have been to and like Treat Me Sweet Cookies. Overall Chip City is the more favored and visited cookie store in Ridgewood downtown. This could be because of the locations of the stores. Chip City is on a main street where multiple popular food places are such as Playa Bowl, and Jersey Mikes. Treat Me Sweet and Cookie Connect are on a side street and on the other side of town near the train tracks, and stores like, The Office, Tori Ramen, Rey Sol, Daisies Nail Salon and more. So practically the more visited store would be Chip City because it is exposed to more people. It is so bizarre why people choose to spend the most money on Chip City cookies when they are not the best out of the 3 cookie places.
Students at BF Middle School were asked which one of these flavors were their favorite;Chocolate Chip, Cookies and Cream, or Smores. There was a very wide variety of what the favorite flavor of cookie was. 60% of the students voted on chocolate chip, 30% of the students voted on cookies and cream, & 10% of the students voted on smores as their favorite flavor. As everyone knows Chocolate chip is the original cookie flavor. In this case, the fan favorite due to the fact more than 50% of the students voted chocolate chip as their favorite flavor.
So…cookie place was the best?
The final decision has been made that the cookie store with the best cookies overall is (drumroll please)… Cookie Connect!!
